Materials: flowers and hot glue.

Artist Statement:

Ever since I was little I have always admired flowers. I have admired their beauty and what they stand for. Flowers grow anywhere, they stand tall rain or shine, but most importantly they just keep growing. My idea behind this identity portrait was "grow through what you go through." I have definitely gone through a lot but I know all that stuff has shaped me into the strong woman I am today.

In Process:  "Blast from the Past" 2" x 18" Materials: Cloth, lemongrass essential oil, book page shavings. Artist Statement: When i found out we could use scent as a material for this project i know just what I could do. This piece is a moment from when I was younger. I was always close with my dad growing up, we would do everything together. This piece represents a specific memory of me sitting with him in a rocking chair, reading together. The cloth is the closest material to that of the blanket I had and I used book shavings covered in lemongrass scent because lemongrass was a present scent in the memory. The Inner Climate  "Unlike other touch information, temperature reports tell the brain of changes as well as highs and lows, and they are frequent updates... The photo reflects upon the idea that our touch receptors and neurons are constantly firing to the brain in reaction to what the skin is feeling.
