"Levitating Caos"

Materials: Cardboard, masking tape, white spray paint, paper, glue.

Artist Statement:

For this project we had to pick at least two architectural time periods; I chose modern, traditional Japanese, and ancient Egyptian. I took different aspects of all these time periods and incorporated them throughout the work. Specifically, I focused on the simpleness of modern, bold triangle shapes of ancient Egyptian, and the linear slates as well as some flare from traditional Japanese. This work was supposed to take these aspects further and make them less obvious than they are in each time period.

In Process:  "Blast from the Past" 2" x 18" Materials: Cloth, lemongrass essential oil, book page shavings. Artist Statement: When i found out we could use scent as a material for this project i know just what I could do. This piece is a moment from when I was younger. I was always close with my dad growing up, we would do everything together. This piece represents a specific memory of me sitting with him in a rocking chair, reading together. The cloth is the closest material to that of the blanket I had and I used book shavings covered in lemongrass scent because lemongrass was a present scent in the memory. "Head in the Flowers" 12" x 12" Materials: flowers and hot glue. Artist Statement: Ever since I was little I have always admired flowers. I have admired their beauty and what they stand for. This excites the cold receptors into overreacting and firing furiously." -Diane Ackerman Why do we get goosebumps? The answer to this dates back to our ancestors. The photo reflects upon the idea that our touch receptors and neurons are constantly firing to the brain in reaction to what the skin is feeling.
